what are the advantages and disadvantages of smartwatches

Smartwatches Now a Days

what are the advantages and disadvantages of smartwatches, nowadays smartwatches are becoming a trend among gadget lovers. More companies are manufacturing smart watches. Even traditional watch companies like Fossil, Titan, Sonata and so on….)  due to smart watches opened its larger market.

Though, this is our time to know more about pros and cons of smartwatches. So, before choosing or buying a smart watch it is important to know whether it is necessary to buy or not. And to know are smart watches are worth its price?

In this blog post, I will explain everything about smart watch upto my knowledge.

1. They are expensive (Disadvantage of smartwatch)

Far and most disadvantage of smartwatches is that you have to pay out of your pocket a very high price to buy a smartwatch.

Of course, there is no doubt in that, there are many low-budget smartwatches available in the market these days, but I am sure you will not be satisfied with them?

Because, these low-budget smartwatches cannot provide you better features, so if you want good features, you have to spend huge money for it.

Smartwatches from premium brands (example: Samsung smartwatch and Apple smartwatch) are the most popular ones, if you want those really you have to pay money 20k to 90k. in this budget you can buy a good smartphone with premium features.

2. Disadvantages of smartwatch: it needs regular charging

A major disadvantage of smart watch is its regular charging. Yes, smartwatch needs a battery to function, which is also justified, I agree with you. But remember, it needs to be charged regularly every day or two

Which means, you have to take care of the battery of your smartwatch. Because, without battery, you cannot see even the time.

And even if you save some percentage of battery by using some battery-saving tips, you may have to compromise on many features.

3. Not convenient for better calling

Demand for Bluetooth calling smartwatches is increasing day by day in India as well as globally, but tell me are you experiencing better calling. Definitely not?

First, you should know, you cannot make calls privately from a smartwatch as the speakers are the only option for talking, unlike a smartphone.

Secondly, you must keep your hand close to the ear for calling, which will not be comfortable.

And finally, if you are using the calling feature in a crowded places or public places, definitely you will get terrible experience

4. Never-ending notifications can be a curse

The best feature of a smartwatch is that direct access to the notifications in smartwatch itself instead of smartphone.

In this case you can access all the notifications from your smartwatch itself.

But, remember if this feature is not used in correct way, it can also become a curse.

These never-ending notifications are very harmful to your productivity and mental health.

Smartwatches delivers every notification to you, but this is not always necessary.

5. Keep your smartphone always with you

A smartwatch needs a smartphone to work, i.e., you will also need a smartphone to take advantage of the features of the smartwatch.

Isn’t this a disadvantage?

However, there is an argument that high-end smartwatches that support eSIM work properly without a smartphone, but they are not affordable; you will have to pay extra money for them. In addition, you should always need a smartphone to customize the smartwatch as per your preferences, whether accessing the watch faces library or customizing watch settings

6. Smartwatch screens have very limited functionality

There is no doubt that you can see a small screen very limited features, even the screen has filled with full of features, very limited features will help us in our daily lifestyle.

7. Health tracking results are sometimes unreliable

One of the reasons to buy smartwatches is that we can keep track of our health condition and stress level, we me thought this feature is very useful,

But, keep one thing in your mind that only a high-end models gives 95% accurate results.

But, the budget smartwatches gives inaccurate results. which is of course no use, and there is a downside because people often depend on their data.

On the other hand, when it comes to fitness tracking, you never get to see accurate step counts in such smartwatches, nor are you able to do sleep monitoring in a better way.

8. Limited availability of smartwatches in different sizes

What I find really annoying about smartwatches is that they don’t have enough sizes available.

Whether your wrist is large or small, there are only a few sizes available for you, and I find it very frustrating.

Smartwatches are often bulky due to the inclusion of sensors for health monitoring, making them less comfortable for some users.

9. Fewer design options

Limited design options When it comes to smartwatches, there are limited design options available.

While this may not be a significant factor for many people, it is worth noting that the selection of design options is limited.

10. It is not an investment; It is an expense

Finally, the biggest disadvantage of buying a smartwatch is that people often overlook is that it is not an investment but an expense.

In past, our traditional watches came through generation to generation. Can you able to pass this smartwatch from generation to generation like traditional watches?

Smartwatches have a limited lifespan due to battery constraints and the need for frequent updates. Investing a significant amount of money in a smartwatch may not be cost-effective in the long run as the device may have a limited lifespan and may become obsolete after a few years. Additionally, some manufacturers may slow down the performance of older models after updates, leading to the need to purchase a new device.

And it has even been seen that smartwatch brands slow down these watches after updating, forcing users to buy another smartwatch.

My final conclusion

If you really need a smart watch. there are a few things you need to understand before jumping to any conclusions.

My purpose of writing this article is not to create ill-will for smartwatches in your mind but to make you aware.

I have seen many people buy expensive smartwatches for a show-off when they do not even need them.

You have to understand your need.

If you are someone who feels that the features of a smartwatch can make life easier, you should definitely go for a smartwatch.

On the contrary, a traditional watch will be perfect for you if you wear a watch to know only the time.
